Description
This book is about a divided family. The eldest son of the Ngubane family, Mbhabhadisi, lives an elite life with his family in Umlazi. Mbhabhadisi's sister, Linono, has two children. When Linono marries a sugarcane cutter, her in-laws do not accept her fatherless children. Mbhabhadisi's uncle, Ndosi Cele, looked after these children until he succumbed to pressure from the neighbours who say he must send the children to an urban area where they will get a better life. However, Mbhabhadisi refuses to take responsibility for this sister's children. Mbhabhadisi and his wife are depicted floundering from one mistake to anoter.
